Darren Willmott
Founder & Director
I have been employed in the construction industry since completing my full-time education in 1991. At the age of 48, I have undertaken various roles, primarily specialising in carpentry.
In 2003, I made the decision to enhance my skills and pursue further education in the United States. During my time there, I obtained a Computer Science Degree in CAD design from Keiser University in Melbourne, Florida. This three-year degree was successfully completed with outstanding merit. While in Florida, I also contributed to the design department of one of the state's prominent home builders.
Upon returning to England in 2006, I have been involved in diverse construction contracts and have worked for one of the largest timber window companies in the south. In 2012, I established and currently manage our family business, Sussex Sash, in collaboration with my father, Barry. Both of us now reside on the Isle of Wight, possessing a genuine expertise in timber restoration, encompassing all aspects of sash window and glazed joinery repair and replication.
Notably, I personally oversaw our FENSA and Isle of Wight Trading Standards Approved Trader registration. I also hold a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Skilled Worker Card having obtained a Level 2 NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) Diploma in Fenestration Installation (Windows). In September 2023, I became a qualified “Emergency First Aid at Work” (EFAW) provider.
